Ceremonial stick

My father collected African beadwork in the 1950s and 60s and this is one of the surviving items.

A ceremonial stick, measuring 60 cm long, probably from the Xhosa people.

The patterns in the beadwork usually had a clear significance, for instance, to signal that a young woman was unmarried, etc.

I do not know if this stick has any meaning.
