The Eye Stone
On the way out to the fields and into the forest, we pass at least one of these two high stones every day. My grandpa, who is a constant source of knowledge and information, says they have been here since the time when the land was military training grounds, and that they're called "ögonsten". It literally means "eye stone", but translates into something like "the apple of my eye", in a poetic kind of way. The text is "be careful with the fields, protect the forest, the joy of your and everyone's eyes".
The doorbell rang, and two girls, six and nine, and a woman stood outside. They used to be mum's neighbors and friends, now live far away and were here to visit. I've never met them. We had a great time, the girls and I played indoor agility and did trick training while the mums catched up. Loads of treats came my way.
