First Attempt
I often make sponge cake or cup cakes (without decoration!) but never made Brownies before.
At Christmas my sister in law, Sonia, gave me a brownie tin. You pour the mixture in and then put in a thing that cuts the mixture into about 16 cubes before putting it into the oven.
I didn't use the cubey cutting thing, thought I'd try the recipe first. It was a great success taste-wise, absolutely delicious if a little dry as I left it in a bit longer than I should have done.
However - I was horrified at the amount of sugar and butter in the recipe, horrendous amounts. It was all in U.S. cup measurements so I printed off a conversion table from the internet and it worked out at a total (put in at different stages) 360 grams of butter and a whopping 850 grams of sugar and 5 eggs!!! No wonder it tasted good with the addition of vanilla essence and flour.
As you can see, there's already a fair bit gone and that doesn't include the 7" round tin that I put some mixture in as there seemed to be an awful lot. The round tin brownies went very quickly, Dhylan and Lennon also on hand to lick the bowl.
