Ran out of steam.

A short walk to the shops with Magnum turned out to be a very long walk indeed. It was a beautiful day and I just kept going, and going. We eventually came to a large enclosed park which was almost deserted. I decided to break the Redhead's rule about not letting him off the lead and I gave him his head. He had a wonderful time racing around the park and rolling in the grass. Also sitting down in every muddy puddle he could find, they do love to get dirty, don't they?
I called him a couple of times and, to my surprise, he galloped back to me immediately. Most un-magnum like. He also returned once or twice under his own volition to see if I was okay. Mostly he just sprinted around at top speed. After about an hour of this we returned to the entrance. I sat on a low wall and he came over and put his head on my lap. I clicked on this lead and that was it, no hassle, and I hadn't even brought a treat with me. Neither had I brought my camera.
I figure I walked about five miles which is by far the longest walk I've had since I came out of hospital last March, and I feel great. Magnum covered at least three times that distance and he is completely knackered. He hasn't moved from the mat at my workstation since we got home, even when dinner was served, which is a first.
I'll have to shift him down to his bed now.
