Horse shoeing

A day out at the Devon county agricultural show. A really full day out, lots of agricultural type things, cows, pigs, horses, sheep and so forth. Huge yellow or blue tractors and all manner of red farm machinery.
Best in show cows all turned out most beautifully and tended by farm workers in starched white coats with the portly judges topped with a black top hats judging each then awarding a brightly coloured rosette to the beaming winner. there are real farming folk and the townies out of the city for a day out. Children seeing were milk comes from and watching tiny piglets sucking from a sleeping mother.
Huge shire horses and little shetland ponies.
There are bands, morris dancers, and ancient and beautiful old traction engines. The Royal Canadian mounted police put on a very impressive display of horsemanship. There was terrier racing and stalls selling all sorts of lovely artesian made food, jams, marmalades, pickles and the most beautiful bread of all types. Cider and wine stalls. Micro brewery beer sellers and sellers of cream and ice cream.
Country clothing and green wellington boots. Need a purple lead for your dog. Show jumping and log chopping. Comfortingly warm AGAs and log burners, a fun fair, stalls selling all manner of freshly cooked food.
Sheep shearing contests and horse shoeing, rabbit shows, a honey and bee keeping tent with the most beautiful local honey for sale. It goes on and on after six hours we tramp wearily back to the car, us townies never really did get close to the farming world, but we peeped through a crack in the door.
