The Phantom Bantam

Our little black Bantam ,called 'The Phantom' because she escapes from the chicken run and just appears magically by your side when you are least expecting it.
She had gone AWOL , found her this evening in the middle of the recycle pile , sitting on 14 eggs! As she has no mate, the eggs are infertile and will never hatch.
The trick is to swap them. We did this once before but only had eggs from bigger chickens so we just left her with three.
One got broken, one disappeared and the other hatched . She was a fiercely protective mother even though the chick was golden brown and three times her size.
