Talkeetna Gifts and Collectables
This is one of the places I work; the only one with a stationary location. This evening was the Talkeetna Timeline Party to plan for the 2016 centennial. Lots of old and not so old timers gathered for the potluck, to watch remastered films of daily life from the 40's and 50's (when there was no road into town - only bush plane or boat) and add events they remember to the historical dateline. The original owner of the shop in this photo is a 49'er who came to Alaska with her parents in 1949 with other Lower 48 pioneers. She met her husband who was here with the Army adding communications lines to Interior Alaska. Her daughter now owns the store. They are four generations native to our small town and the kind of people who care for the community and people. It is quite a pleasant place to work.
