Longqing Gorge Ice Festival
Yesterday evening we went on a school excursion to this Ice Festival about an hour and a half drive from Keystone. The sides of the gorge had been filled with a light display showing different animals and dragons and a fake led version of the Great Wall. They were a bit like Christmas lights but on a larger scale. The ice carvings themselves were under a temporary canvas roof in the gorge. The first room had individual ice carvings that were very impressive in themselves then the second room had this giant ice castle. It was all really nicely lit and very impressive, I have no idea how long it took them to put it all together.
After we'd seen all the ice we took a weird trip up the hillside on a series of escalators inside a huge fibre glass dragon. The sign said it was in the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest dragon escalator in the world. I would imagine it is probably the only dragon escalator in the world!
