Silence

My wife and I went and saw the movie, American Sniper- The Chris Kyle Story in a large Imax theater tonight. We went to the 7 PM show and almost every single seat in this place was occupied. The movie was good, the message and what is portrayed were excellent. Clint Eastwood took a good book and put forth a decent film- but the books are always better. It holds true in this case as well..

Todays pic has no meaning other than to serve as a backdrop for my words I am putting on my PaD. As the movie ended there was silence. An absolute hush and quietness filled this theater. No applause. No murmur of typical leaving the show chatter. No crumpling of bags of trash, or slurping of last remnants of soda in a icy cup. No cell phones chirping and people talking about the movie or dinner plans. Nothing- Not a word! Nothing but a deafening silence.

It was a sobering film and while it highlighted one mans life, it shined a bright light on the plight of all men whom have picked up a gun and went to war, and then came home changed. Yeah, I was impressed and somewhat honored at the reverence of the movie goers leaving the theater silently. You had to be there, it was unlike any other gathering I have been to. The show of respect and silence choked me up a bit as I sat there and watched people file out silently.
