When I were a lad
We 'ad none of theses 'ere consoles and the likes, we 'ad a stick and if we were lucky we 'ad a bit of fire.
Alf has had a very productive day today. Some full on gaming this morning followed by hoovering the sty that is H's car. Clearly H had to pay him but he spent ages on it, and made a cracking job of it. He then helped me with a rather exciting bonfire, which had the added amusement of a 'fire stick' which proved very entertaining. Of course none of this would have been possible if he had not done all of his homework (5bits!) on Friday as soon as he got home from school. I hope he remembers this useful lesson.
I've spent the day sorting as we are supposedly 'doing' (if 'doing' is the right word for dragging our arses out at 6 am to sit on the boot lip of the car in front of a table full of assorted crap that we no longer need. Whilst odd people pick their way through our items in the faint hope that they stumble across some amazing treasure that we have somehow overlooked while tutting and offering derisory sums for out once prized possessions) a car boot sale. I have found quite a lot of stuff that we really don't need and will probably be of some use to someone so hopefully it will all go swimmingly. I did find a lot of old rubbish though, hence the bonfire.
Living next to the river we also seem to have a lot of tree rubbish along the bank so I cleared a load of that, and then a load more random bits of wood, more fire ;)
Currently cooking lamb shanks and wondering if I had a glass of extra strong ribena it might make me stop wanting to open a bottle of wine.
