Orange Berries...
Still haven't made it out to take any pictures. It's too cold and miserable. Had to have a wander about in the garden this afternoon for today's.
I was looking for some colour and I found these berries. The plant is the British wild Iris. It has typical Iris, sword like leaves and in summer has beautiful, pale biscuit coloured iris flowers. Huge seed pods appear and, at this time of year, they split to reveal these bright orange berries.
It just arrived in the garden one year. I suspect the birds brought it. There was, originally, just one plant but it is successful and had popped up in different places. Native plants will do this of course. I've dug clumps up and given them to neighbours so it's thriving nicely in our part of the city.
