Spring is Coming

Well, I thought my first showing of snowdrops bursting into bloom earlier in the week were an indication that Spring must be on the way! But I had not reckoned on that being followed in just a few days by clematis on our pergola flowering.
The experts onLine at the Royal Horticultural Society suggest that clematis do not flower until May and through June, so what is happening here in southern England? The temperature outside this evening is hovering just above zero and the weather forecast suggests it may drop to well below that by morning.
But here we are in mid January with this tub grown clematis sporting white flowers in relative profusion. A primrose too, although sadly attacked by snails or slugs so that both leaves and flowers show signs of having been eaten.
The daffodils are sprouting, but a long way from blooming.
But if my clematis really is a sign of Spring on the way, hooray! I don't like dreary grey days of winter, so welcome.
