Getting to Grips with a Real Fire

Having opted just to burn logs in the base of the fire we splashed out on a cast iron grate. Its improved the burning (and thus the heat) and also means we can burn coals, which need a upward air draft to burn.

Also started to identify suitable sources of wood to either cat and burn or cut and store.
