The top of the Blue Mountains was immersed in cloud today resulting in a very thick (at times almost impenetrable) fog.  I pulled in to get some petrol this morning. The only thing I could properly see was the sign with the illuminated prices.

A couple of days ago I tried to add a mid grey frame mat surround to my image in an effort to lessen the "torch in the face" effect of the new white background. But because the much hyped thumbnail editing facility does not yet work properly I was not able to edit out the grey surround for the thumbnail when I re-submitted the image. Anyway I am trying again.

It is my contention that this almost entirely grey image would be very difficult to interpret against a harsh rear illuminated white backdrop. I am hopeful that this surround may help prevent the viewer's eye from stopping down so much and making it easier to detect the very subtle variations in colours and shades.

I strongly recommend viewing this in LARGE via the little icon (bottom right of image). The image is entirely sooc by the way.
