Dedication ceremony

Events in India don't take place without a lot of ceremony which can be hard in the full heat of the sun. This ceremony to mark the laying of the foundation stone for new classrooms in the school I visit had the Bishop, two local MPs, the Mayor and many other dignitaries.
The canvas awning over the stage was hung with shiny streamers which twisted and sparkled in the sun light.
The attendees at the ceremony also had an awning I'm glad to say as the speeches and ceremonial lasted over two hours - but their's had no sparkles.
