Day 56: View From The Top

After a two+ hour wait last night at Passport Control, we finally entered the most expensive city in the Middle East, Dubai. And yes, you could almost feel the opulence in the air. The city looked so futuristic with its tall skyscrapers and modern architecture, it felt like I was in a video game - well, aside from the spires of hundreds of mosques that perforated the horizon. Of course, we visited The Top of the Burj Khalifa, where the view was spectacular. Unfortunately, the skies were a little too cloudy to see The World Islands or The Palm.

It was fascinating to learn how the tallest building world is kept cool under the brutal desert sun by the nearly 1 million litres of water that are constantly pumped throughout the building's complex hydronic system. I won't spoil the rest of the journey to The Top; you'll just have to visit yourself :)
