Something like a flower
This pictured 1983 edition of Bai Juyi poetry is still one of my favourites, in the ever-expanding poetry collection ;-)
His poems are well over a thousand years old now - but still have a directness and freshness that's quite remarkable:
Something like a flower
Something like a flower,
something like mist;
appearing at midnight,
vanishing at dawn; at times
riding in swiftly and staying
as briefly as a spring dream;
then disappearing completely like morning clouds.
