Meerkat lookout.
Today the men of the house went to watch New Zealand play cricket against Sri Lanka while the rest of us went to Tahunanui Beach for the day.
After lunch at the Beach Cafe, we went to Natureland where we spent the remainder of the day.
Natureland is a small petting zoo and the children enjoyed the one to one hands on contact with the animals and birds. Firm favourites were the meerkats, closely followed by the marmoset monkey and the pigeons - which they found so tame that they could catch and hold them.
This meerkat was standing on the highest point, watching for the keeper to bring their food. They have very acute distance vision and could pick out the keeper coming long before I was able to. They also have a pretty good inner clock and come out out on watch shortly before the meal is due.
