Early morning excitement!
OK, it wasn't that exciting but was a tad more interesting than yesterday. As you probably know already from reading my incessant waffling, I listen to BBC WM radio while in the shower. I used to love the 'Name That Tune' type game that Daz Hale used to play years ago. Pete Morgan, the current host of the 5am-7am show plays a track that has been compressed into just 3 seconds. I get it right sometimes but not as often as I used to manage the 'Name That Tune' game.
Anyway, I had a go today and sent a text message in at 5:20 before going downstairs for my sugar puffs. My phone ringing at 5:45 made me drop my bowl with the shock. As I explained to Pete when I was talking to him on the radio, when your phone rings at that time of the morning you always assume someone has died! At least with it being so early in the morning, I don't know anyone who would have heard me at that time thank goodness!
I'd last spoken to Pete after seeing Rod Stewart at the LG Arena a couple of years ago. He'd been to the same concert and wanted to do a post mortem on the radio and I emailed him a couple of pictures which ended up on the Radio WM website.
Where was I? Oh yes! I told Pete I was getting ready for work but as I was working from home, at least I could listen to the radio all day. He then asked me whether I was working from home or "working from home" implying that I would probably have my feet up on the settee watching the telly a bit later! We then had a chat about advantages of working from home. I said the best thing was that you don't have to talk to anyone when you go to the loo at home. Why people want to have a conversation in there is beyond me. I think you should do what you have to do and then get out of there! Men don't hang around talking while splashing their boots, do they?
Pete said they had a unisex loo at the Mailbox in Brum where the station is based, just like on Ally McBeal. I asked if everyone had to sing and dance to Barry White music while they were in there. Pete said that's all they do all day is sing and dance in the toilets. It would never work at the council house....
Basically it was a very silly conversation. Finally, he arrived at the real point of phoning me and asked for my answer to the song in three seconds. I knew full well he wouldn't have rung me if I'd got it right and told him so but it made for an interesting start to the day although not for any misfortunate person who had to listen to it.
Work was incredibly busy today and when I rang mom after I'd logged off, I was relieved to use the phone to stop it ringing again!
Track? I heard this on the radio this afternoon for the first time in ages - More Than A Feeling
