East Coasting

Woody Head

We drove over to Woody Head this afternoon about 4pm for a walk and also to Iluka Bluff as we hadn't been there for ages. I had a lovely walk at Woody Head with much scrambling over rocks to get to different spots and dodging the incoming tide. It is such a magical place and most times I've been there it was much earlier in day for a swim. However, late afternoon was such a beautiful scene that I didn't know what to photograph first.
It is in the Bundjalung National Park and is a camping/picnic area with camp sites, a few little cabins, facilities, a kiosk and managers accommodation. The views start over the cresent shaped beach to the west and then go a full 180 degrees right around to the east with water views everywhere.
This shot is taken from the picnic area looking to the eastern corner. I have also put a couple of others in Blipfolio.

Another nice little spot at Woody Head

I saw a group of five Sooty Oyster Catchers on one of the rock platforms - I haven't seen any of them for ages here so that was exciting. I also saw a young White Faced Heron. As it got later there was the most beautiful sunset in all directions. In the north and in the eastern corner it was all subtle pinks but when I turned back towards the west is was just stunning deep golds and purples. I came home feeling quite uplifted by it all.
