South American Gourd

This decorated gourd was brought back from the Machu Picchu Region Peru by my daughter. The harvested gourd would be left to dry for several months, then when the surface is suitable for decorating it would be sanded, burned, and then dyed before a final polish. The detail is intricate and beautiful.
