Grandfather Clock

Early last year I used clocks and watches as a theme for a week and I think it was quite successful.

Since then, there's been an addition to my collection - this grandfather clock which my husband and sons bought me for Christmas. It's not new, and it's certainly not antique, but it is a rather lovely timepiece. It doesn't have pendulums and pulleys; the tower part of the clock is, in fact, a small cupboard so I shall have to find something small to store in there.

There is a (sort of) funny story attached to the buying of this clock but it is, of course, only funny to those concerned or to those who know the people concerned so I've failed to turn the tale into an amusing anecdote. It involves a husband and son getting lost in the wilds of North Lincolnshire and the same son losing his car. He allowed his dad to drive him all the way home from North Lincs, got into a panic because his car wasn't on our drive 'where he had left it' and then remembered that it was still in his work's car park, where he really had left it. Bear in mind that the clock had to be collected and all cars be back in place before I got home from work so I wouldn't suspect anything and you might be able to imagine the chaos which ensued.
