Birds Nest Fungi

A walk in the woods today produced this surprise. Quite an unusual fungi. Its name comes from the small spore sacs that can be found inside the cup, which look like birds eggs. It is a small fungi with the cups 1-2cm high. There were about a dozen fruit bodies, none had any spore sacs inside as they had long since gone, dispersed by rain drops.
