Blue and White

Finnish songwriter Jukka Kuoppamäki made a beautiful song about Finland in 1972. Finnish lyrics are really wonderful and sentimental. There is also English version "Blue and White" but the meaning of the lyrics is not quite the same. This is my poor translation from Finnish.

When I left my homeland behind,
I wondered, 
what to tell about it,
to those who ask.

Shall I tell about the poverty,
about the planks on the windows?
Or all about the wealth?
Then I knew the answer: 

Blue is the sky, blue are the eyes of her.
Blue are the lakes, mirroring the sky.
White is the snow, white are the summer nights.
White are the clouds, sheep on the blue sky.
