A visit to Whitby

A call at Sherlocks in Flowergate is irresistible.
But this was not mid-afternoon so the
temptation of a toasted teacake was not
overwhelming. There is certainly something
about the relics, whether redundant Victorian
chemical bottles which might have contained
arsenic or laudanum, or the casual top hat or
fiddle, that suggest that these might have been
clues in some sinister crime being investigated by
this cafe's namesake, the inimitable Sherlock
Holmes, who was reputed to be a visitor here.
