Marjorie

Following on from last week's Derelict Thursday I attempted to find out something of the life of the last occupant. It seems she was very much a free spirit who traveled extensively, was married and returned to the gate lodge of home farm after the death of her husband. The photo is of the gate lodge where she spent her last years. I came across the sewing machine (in photo) and also two knitting machines so she was obviously a talented, industrious woman to the end. Seemingly she rode a motorcycle into her eighties to get around!!!

I found the following death notice but have deleted bits to protect her identity.

zzzzzzzzzzz (Marjorie) (née ZZZZZZZZ) (Of Corduff) - October 24, 2006, aged 91, in the gentle care of the nursing staff of St Paul's Ward, Xxxxxxxxx Hospital, Dublin; sadly missed by her sister Helen and family in Edinburgh and Dublin. Memorial Service in St Patrick's, XXXXXXXX on Monday, October 30, at 2 o'clock
