Day 6

The dishevelled look straight after doing snorkelling around shipwrecks in Carlisle Bay including the USS Berwyn sunk in 1919. Also one was sunk on purpose only a few years ago and coral has been glued on to encourage fish to populate the area.
We also had a tour of Mount Gay tourist attraction at the bottling factory with samples of all the rum.
We also went to Harrisons cave with a tour by tram to see the stallagmites / stallagtites, and we found out how Barbados was formed from coral bed lifting out of the sea through plates moving, unlike any of the other caribbean islands which were firmed through volcanic action. Barbados only came into existence 60,000 years ago. Its name is taken from the bearded figtree of which we saw a few examples of at the cave with hairy roots hanging from the branches.
