Awake and Owl-ey

I went to the Calgary Zoo again today.  In the "Canadian Wilds" area of the zoo there is an aviary that houses various birds of prey.  One of those raptors is a Snowy Owl.  Normally all the owls are sound asleep during the day while people are visiting, but today, sitting on a stump staring at me, was the snowy old observing my every move.

Initially the owl was a little hunched over.  I took a step closer to him and he straightened right up and look right into the camera, as if he was posing.  Thanks to his beautiful posing, he is my picture for today...
