St. Michael's Episcopal Church Charleston SC
My wife and I escaped the cold for a long weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. These are fighter jet contrails in morning light against St. Michael's Church, the oldest religious structure in Charleston. It was built between 1751 and 1761 at the corner of Broad and Meeting streets on the site of the original wooden church built in 1681 that was destroyed in a hurricane.
The Air Force officially named its facility as Charleston Air Force Base in June 1953. On 1 October 2010 the Naval Weapons Station combined with Charleston AFB to become Joint Base Charleston.
