Obsessive? Me?

I could be back down in Swansea this weekend.

There is a small group of people who follow the Man band from Wales with some enthusiasm.

Some collect concerts, traveling 10's, 100's, 1000's of miles, or even halfway around the world to see them play live. I first saw them in Cheltenham when I was a teenager, and have seen them countless times since (over 150 times, and have been known to see them three times in one weekend!)

Others collect the music, LP's, 7" singles, CD's, cassettes, 8 tracks, etc.. Different pressings of the same album from different countries! I have, with live concert recordings (bootlegs) about 125 CD's worth, and probably another 100 by offshoot bands!

Some collect posters, and some collect badges.

John Bannon does all of these things. And to excess. Cuttings from the music press, concert setlists, and posters. If anything has been written, or published about the Man band, he has it. From all around the world. He has contracts for various gigs, and write ups from the local rags. Ticket stubs, signed by the band of course..

This man is legend. So much so, that he has been asked by Swansea (Man's hometown) museum to put together and exhibition about the band. It opens today, and runs for a month. There is a gig after tonight's official opening by "Son of Man", and another tomorrow with legendary guitarist Deke Leonard..

I've been down the Hall this afternoon putting up a new outside light with A. I'm delivering eggs tonight, and we have a Burn's night tomorrow in the Hall.
