Mercat del Born, Barcelona

This wonderful structure, built in the 1870s.....huge and cavernous, was once a market place for meat, fruit and vegetables in old Barcelona. It closed in the 1970s and has been beautifully restored and redeveloped to open as a somewhat politically charged Cultural Centre, favouring all things Catalan.
We enjoyed our wine, local beer and tapas at lunch time!
