King Tide

There was a king tide at 1.30 pm today with a 4.4 metre rise and fall. I went to the estuary out of curiosity to see if it came over the walking path at all - which it did in a couple of places.

The sun was intense with not a cloud in the sky and everything is starting to look brown and dry. I nearly tripped over a tui sunning himself on the ground beside the track - that is a behaviour I hadn't seen before. At first I thought he was dead so didn't have the camera ready for when he shook himself  and took off. 

The colours were so strong in the midday sun that I have posted this sooc.
