A long 1955 Chevy

Went to a local car show today and much to my surprise there was a 1955 Chevy Limo on display.

A little searching on the web found a company called Stageway that built four door PER SIDE limos out of 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolet's. There production was about 20 units per year. As you can expect very few remain today. But this is not one of them.

I believe that the pictured car began life as a typical 4 door sedan. At some point the car was cut in half between the front door and the rear door. Then an "extension" was placed between the halves and the welding began. A second theory is that it is made from two '55 Chevy's one having front end damage and one having rear end damage.

In any case it was a reel treat to see this car.

Now if I can just get the overhead door on the garage to close maybe the owner won't see it. HEHE
