Lanterns light the gloom

My Mum used to grow these flowers in our garden when I was a kid. We called them Japanese Lanterns, and found that if you pull off the petals there was a drop of sweet nectar inside the calex. She got quite irate when we decimated the bush of flowers searching for sweetness.
Luckily they are profuse flowerers.
This is the neighbours plant, but lots of flowers hang over our fence. I checked them for nectar, but they are a bit old, and the ants have got there first.

Try looking at this picture in the large setting. (the two arrows button after the heart button) Not only can you see the entire image without scrolling, but it is presented with a dark grey background which is much better for viewing a lot of my images, I reckon; (and probably yours too)
