Big Boys

What do big boys play with?
Model trains? Aeroplanes?
Sports cars? Guitars? Lego?
Motorbikes?  Meccano?

Are we saying that they never grow
up, these boys? That they hurtle
around in their childish football shirts
pretending to be Rooney

(or someone like him) crashing into
one another and making lots of noise?
And what do their wives and girlfriends
think of them? And their children!

Embarrassing or what? And just who
do they play with? Other big boys?
Do they call round to their houses
and ask if they can play out? Big girls?
