On the Devil's Beef Tub

On the way back to Dumfries briefly.

I'm reminded of the Battle of Athelstaneford in AD832 (not that I was there!)

It is said that before the battle, King Aengus dreamt of St Andrew bearing his Saltire cross. According to the legend, during the battle Aengus saw a cross of white clouds against a blue sky.   The Picts and Scots won the battle, and the saltire became the flag of Scotland.

None of this was due, I suppose, to jet trails.
