Last year I took this portrait of Michael Longley. An old friend of mine in Rochester, New York, now retired, who is an amateur painter, liked it so much he decided to do an oil painting of it. He said he would make it a "younger" version.
He sent it to me this week, so now it hangs between the unlikely juxtaposition of David Crone and Felim Egan. More of a Burt Reynolds, perhaps! Nonetheless it was very kind of him to send it to me.
