The Olympic Flame passed through Torbay today and it was inspiring. Thousands of people thronged the route. At Corbyn Head outside the Livermead House Hotel there was a changeover. Number 085 ( I'm sorry I don't know his name or story) was waiting for his turn and patiently allowed everyone to take his photo or be photographed with him. I don't wish to reinforce regional stereotypes but I'm happy to do so in this case. A policeman in a car in advance of the flame was Westcountry geniality personified. ASs the car passed slowly along he greeted everyone with "All right my lovers".
