Midnight visitor

Went outside to check my rain gauge after a thunderstorm and was accosted by this amphibian animal residing on my rear patio sheltering from the rain.

I thought they were rather partial to water so what was it doing there?
It wasn't green so obviously not one of the tree varieties, so it appears to be a standard back yard frog. 
As long as it doesn't start croaking.
