In the middle of the flower bed

These are my favourite plants in our little garden. They were here when we moved in almost thirteen years ago, although we have re-positioned them as we re-arranged the garden. And it doesn't seem to have harmed them. Every May they produce these amazing, vivid red flowers. There are other peonies in a few other gardens in nearby streets - I wonder if that is mere coincidence or if there is some connection between the plants. I don't think natural dispersion is very likely, but the plants last so long - many decades I believe - that it might be possible that plants were shared between neighbours in the past.
