Burns Day

Went with this frozen loch today, so I could append this doggerel,

                              Ice creaks,
                              water seeps
                              bruising black
                             white edging,
                             flowing, ebbing,
                             thaw.
So now I'll quote something from the Bard, written after his Highland tour of 1787,
                             'When death's dark stream I ferry o'er,
A time that surely shall come
In Heaven itself, I'll ask no more,
                             Than just a Highland welcome.
