A fresh start

Well,  I'm back!.  It's been a very challenging 6 months.  I've considered leaving my profession, after realising my post has lost its occupational focus, and because of the general pressure of working for the nhs with its ever increasing workloads and ever reducing staff numbers.

I've been on a very emotional journey -loosing both our loving cats Alan and Morris within 13 weeks of each other (Alan was put to sleep last weekend).

I've learnt a lot about myself and the challenge of becoming a better version of myself has started.

This photo sets out to be a visual representation of the focus and balance I want 2015 to hold.

The cup of hot chocolate represents saying goodbye to last year, and my old ways.  It also represents family (it was a christmas present from my neices  a few years ago).  It's contents are representing comfort, and support - marshmallows were part of a gift from my manager this Christmas, she has signed up to working with me and joining me in my mission to bring back occupation to the centre of our practice in our department.

The OT text book represents the revision, learning and work goals I have set myself.  It's also a reminder to make sure I OT myself along the way (work life balance, exercise, mindfulness).

And the Lonely Planet book of New Zealand represents the reward, treat, love, fun, happiness and laughter that's going to be present throughout the year.  I am blessed with some utterly wonderful life long friendships, and our friends Nicolas, Konrad and the two girls are just the best.  Nicola's the reason I'm  back here today - thank you for you support I love you lots! Roll on November!!
