Burns' Night

"Scotland's greatest poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796) is remembered every year on 25 January. He is celebrated by a special Burns' Night Supper, which involves much merrymaking, drinking of toasts and the eating of haggis. The meal is rounded off by speeches and recitations of Burns' narrative poems the most popular of which is usually 'Tam O'Shanter '. Often the evening is concluded by communal singing of 'Auld Lang Syne'."

To celebrate Burns' Night, the book suggested I cooked Scotch Broth or Haggis. Being a veggie head, I decided instead to open a box of Scottish Shortbread! Hope you all have a very merry Burns' Night, and a wee dram or two!!

(Completed the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this morning; spotted twelve different species of birds, one Squirrel, and a Bumble Bee! In January!!)
