The Living Years

Wow

What a weekend.

Woke up with L yesterday and we had a whole day without him working. The sun was shining and it was warm again. We cycled to the shop, shop sat for his Aunt, sat in the garden, ate cherries and fed the fish. Then we went to his Grandma's for lunch where they had made me a birthday cake. I saw the teeny tiny chicks and of course the ducklings again and ate a lot of strawberries. After lunch we cycled to the Danube where we paddled and I found a heart shape stone that I want to try and make into a necklace. It was a lovely day and I was very sad to leave but I had another place to be.

I got the bus to Paks where Nori, Palika and Peti met me with a welcome beer. Walked to Zoli's flat which is gorgeous and relaxed until Zoli got back from confession. Then we had chilli for dinner and went to the pub. The pub was great we watched the football which I got very into despite normally hating football (it's the way they're always rolling around on the floor crying like girls!). I was very happy that Chelsea won. In the back room there was a foosball table, pool table and jukebox. So we put some ABBA on and had a great time till the pub closed at 2. After that we went to a club which played rock music and danced until the sun started to come up.

After a couple of hours of sleep we got up for church. Oh boy! Zoli's Mum had made a beautiful platter of tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, salami, ham, cheese, szalonna (which is a bit like smoked bacon) and töpörty? (a bit like crackling). 2 coffees and a pretty dress but no make up later we got in the cars and headed to church.

We made a quick stop at the top of the town where you get an incredible view of the Danube. I can't believe I forgot my camera but will hopefully get L to take me again one day.

The celebrations were for Zoli who was being confirmed. The Heart of Jesus Church is beautiful and it was nice to finally go inside having been past it countless times. The service was also beautiful. I spent the time thinking a lot about faith and how nice it must be to have it. Until I left school I went to church regularly and it was something I always enjoyed. They were Anglican churches and my Mum is Catholic. I don't feel that I have a religion but hope that I will.

After church we went back to Zoli's. His mum cooked a delicious lunch, soup in a roll, pork with cheese and bacon, chips, salad and a yummy peach and strawberry cake. I ate so much I don't think I will ever eat again. We spent the afternoon in our zombified state napping and watching Die Hard 4 until the bus.

It was a perfect weekend and I feel lucky to have such a wonderful boyfriend, wonderful friends and a wonderful life.

I nearly forgot to say there was a little boy in the church who kept sticking his tongue out at another little boy on the opposite side of the aisle. It was hilarious he was like a snake.

Last night while out Zoli and I became commandoes as we stalked Palika. Hiding behind bushes etc. we were awesome!

I'm so tired I'm not sure this blip will make any sense. As I missed lots of fantastic blip opportunities this morning I got my camera out as I walked home from the bus station. This is one of the old water pumps we have all over our town. I also found a shrub with huge flowers in different shades of pink with an incredible smell, I wonder what it is.
