Marischal College

Much photographed and much Blipped, I was in the city this afternoon near the City Hall, formally Marischal College. There was a demonstration in front of this building against the proposed construction of a large office and retail complex which will largely close off this view.

Aberdeen City Council places the revenue it will gain from the proposed office and retail complex ahead of the possibility to create to an impressive city focal point. We might expect the Council to take a short term financial view. It is maybe more surprising that Sir Ian Wood, who previously  tried to promote another city centre project, remains silent on this opportunity to create a transformational project in the city centre.

Brilliant sunshine this afternoon but a cold wind, which we expect to get colder in the days to come.
