Brighter Home?

I have just signed up for one of those all embracing TV-Phone-Broadband packages which theoretically should save money and give a wider than ever choice of TV news and entertainment.
If the blurb is to be believed as well as BBC's Newsnight which was on when I took today's Polaroid Blip, I have a mind boggling 261 channels at my command.
I tell you, I have enough trouble fitting in the regular soaps and news or sport programmes to be over concerned about finding time to explore what else I might watch. The idea of watching catchup TV on the regular screen has some appeal.  But at present if I occasionally choose to catch up on something I've missed,  it tends to be on an iPad or  phone in bed before settling down for the night.
In principal if I have got my sums right, I will be saving myself at least £16 a month, perhaps more when already announced price rises kick in and still pay less than I was for broadband alone. And have that enhanced TV availability if I should need it.
The irritating thing is needing two TV controllers to hand; although the instructions tell me I should be able to set up everything on the new controller. Darned if I can get it to work however!
Technology?   Grrrrr.
