Mono Monday: Close-up

Cheerios...

Cheerios have been part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I ate them for breakfast as a child, and I still like them with milk and a little brown sugar for an emergency meal. For a period of time they were highly touted as "heart healthy" because they contain oats, which are apparently quite good at sopping up cholesterol. I must go look at the box that is in my cupboard right now to see if it still has the red heart on it. There is consistent lack of agreement is or is not good for us to eat.

My children were raised on Cheerios. When they were very small, we would give them small bags of them to keep them quiet  eat in the car. No parent I ever knew had a car free of ground up Cheerios mashed into the back seat upholstery.

Dana is the only person I know who wore out a jogging stroller--a double one! She would load Will and Peter into it, give them each a book and a little bag of Cheerios and run them all over the subdivision where she lives.

When we arranged to meet some puppy breeders to pick out a new puppy, we expected a large pick-up truck. Instead, they arrived with four puppies in a small crate and two small children in car seats surrounded by the ubiquitous ground up Cheerios.

This morning I saw this small pile of Cheerios on the kitchen counter where one of us had obviously unloaded our pockets on the way out the door without  Blake. They are an essential part of his treat based training regimen.
