The Mourning Pin

As the RCMP said 'goodbye', mourned, remembered, and buried one of their own, we (EMS) lost one of our own.  Sadness fills my heart.  He wore the uniform I wear.  His boots tread where mine do.  His hands moved as mine do.  The bond of paramedic brotherhood made us family.

My heart is saddened because, while we were only acquaintances, I am friends with many of his.  I know their grief and am sad for what they now experience.  So now I will mourn with them.  The black ribbon symbolizes this.

Finally be at peace my brother.  May the angels now carry you home as you were the angel to so many.  May your soul find rest.  Your watch is over, we will take it from here.  Rest Easy...
