'Defects Day - Movie Night'

I was out of the office all day today doing defects inspections on two of our projects. Firstly a school library refurbishment in Berwick. The builder still hadn't finished, the painter & joiners were still on site and the workmanship wasn't up to scratch, so 4 pages of defects later it was off for some lunch and then on to the next project. Again for the same school but a different campus. The second project is a total ground floor refurbishment of a 1950's brick building. This project was even further behind schedule, partly due to finding asbestos on site during demolition which caused a week of delays while it was safely removed, and secondly because the site foreman was rushed to hospital a week and a half ago with a burst appendix. A new site foreman has taken over but it's a tough ask for someone to come in at this late stage and have to play catch up with everything that's already happened. Teachers are due back tomorrow and students on Thursday. I can't see how they will be ready, but we'll wait and see.

Home tonight for a movie night with the kids. It's a special treat for them. They got the choose the movie 'Garfield', and the food. Hot dogs, chips, popcorn and sarsaparilla to drink. The kids had never tried this before and both loved it, but this was a very special occasion and won't be becoming a regular occurrence.
