Periyar Tiger Reserve

There is a general strike in Kerela today which means one can't travel anywhere so we stay an extra day in Kumily. All the shops, stalls, schools and restaurants are closed - and the tours to the wildlife sanctuary and the tourists numbers are way down. We walked into this sanctuary and had an hours walk on little paths in the jungle for an hour with no-one stopping us.  here were no tigers, but little villages and local people walking about. Beautiful.
